Why JJDD promotes the 2♦
JJDD stands for Joker-Joker-Deuce-Deuce — both deuces are promoted above the Ace. The 2♦ is placed above the 2♠ in the trump ladder, making it the third-highest trump. But because it is "pure trump," it loses its diamond identity: you cannot use it to follow a diamond lead. This is the rule that most often surprises players coming from JJD or Classic.

The following-suit trap
Diamonds are led with the K♦. You hold the 2♦ and the 3♦. Because the 2♦ is trump only in JJDD, you must follow with the 3♦ — the 2♦ is not a legal follow here. Players who forget this will try to "save" their 3♦ by playing the 2♦, which is illegal. The server rejects it.
House-rule note
Some local JJDD tables treat the 2♦ as a diamond that can also be trump — that is a different house rule. The implementation here treats the 2♦ as pure trump only, which is the most common JJDD convention. Always confirm with your table. Compare variants on the atlas.
